Eldon Foote Track and Field Scholarships - Renewable

Awarded annually on the basis of superior academic achievement (80% or higher on Grade 12 final marks) to Alberta residents who: – complete Grades 10, 11, and 12 in Alberta – graduate from an Alberta High School within two years of attending the UofA – demonstrate outstanding athletic accomplishment in track and field (preference is given to international, national, and provincial standards respectively) – will become members of the Pandas or Golden Bears Track and Field Teams To re-qualify for the scholarship after the first year of study recipients must: – achieve a minimum GPA of 2.9 on a minimum of 24 credits (calculated on the best 24 credits). – maintain their status as members of the Bears or Pandas Track and Field Team – maintain full-time registration at the University of Alberta To re-qualify for the scholarship after the second, third, and fourth years of study recipients must: – achieve a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a minimum of 24 credits (calculated on the best 24 credits). – maintain their status as members of the Bears or Pandas Track and Field Team – maintain full-time registration at the University of Alberta Recipients who, because of injury or illness during an academic year, are unable to continue as members of the Golden Bears or Pandas Track and Field Teams and, therefore, do not re-qualify for the scholarship the subsequent year based on their athletic performance may be re-instated the year after provided they: – achieve a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a minimum of 24 credits (calculated on the best 24 credits) – regain their status as members of the Bears or Pandas Track and Field Team – maintain full-time registration at the University of Alberta NOTE: A student athlete’s eligibility to receive the scholarship shall be limited to a consecutive five year period including any missed due to injury or illness. Recipients may be re-instated only once during the four-year eligibility period following the entry year.
